About Matt

For the past decade I have worked for a local non-profit managing the construction and rehab of over 100 homes for first time home buyers. Having worked for the seller and working with new buyers to settle into their homes, I know both sides of the transaction well.

Knowing about construction and how real estate transactions work is not what drew me to becoming a broker at findwell. The most satisfying aspect of my previous work was working with home buyers. I loved meeting them, putting them at ease, explaining how their homes worked, and teaching them what they need to know in order to protect their investment. I look forward to sharing my knowledge of houses, condos, and the real estate market so that people can make the best possible housing decision based on their own unique set of life circumstances.

Before beginning my career in real estate, I worked for several years in the hotel industry and earned Bachelor Degrees in Economics and Community & Environmental Planning from the UW Seattle. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, gardening, movies, reading, hiking, biking, and trying as many new restaurants that my budget will allow. I grew up in New England, but my home is Seattle. I love it here and believe very strongly that investing in homeownership in this area is one of the smartest things that one can do.

Household tool I can't live without!

A screwdriver. You can attach, detach, pry, chip, put things together, and take things apart. The first tool you will need in your home is a set of screwdrivers!

  • Bought a single family home in 2017 for $889,950 in Seattle, WA.

Matt Martel at Findwell helped me through the process of buying my first home. Going in to the process I thought I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted and what buying a home is like – but it wasn’t “quite” as simple as I thought.

Matt may be the most patient person I know; he’s completely open to hearing what you have to say and continues to listen whole heartedly when the next day you’re saying something completely different. This ain’t his first rodeo and he seems to understand the flip flopping first time buyers go through. He seemed to always be available for my questions and sync ups when I was feeling under water.

Throughout the whole process I felt like Matt had my back and he even caught an error in the closing documents that no one else saw that saved me a bunch of money. I felt like Matt knew what was going on at all times in the closing process so I was confident he wasn’t going to let me miss any deadlines and we ended up finalizing in record time.

I couldn’t recommend him enough for anyone looking for some peace of mind when buying a home!

  • Bought a condo in 2016 for $619,950 in Seattle, WA.

I found Matt Martel (with Findwell) online through yelp and other reviews, and he helped me find and navigate my first real estate purchase.  I closed and moved into my new condo after a few months of search and am absolutely thrilled – I cannot recommend Matt highly enough!

Matt was patient, highly knowledgeable about Seattle (has lived here for many years and lived in several areas of the city), Seattle real estate, and the ins-and-outs of buying homes, and was incredibly flexible and accommodating in scheduling viewings.  Because I don’t have a car, I was completely dependent on Matt for transportation in my condo hunt — so we went on perhaps a dozen half-day long treks all across the city, and he was terrific about this.  He was patient with my changing my mind about offers and generous in giving detailed feedback and notes in reading through HOAs (which he has great expertise in reviewing) and contracts, pointing me in a good direction with lenders, helping set realistic expectations throughout the process, and basically guided me through every step of the way.  Going through the first home-buying process by myself, I felt tremendously grateful for his guidance.  He was professional and responded quickly whether by email or text.  Also important to me was the fact that he put absolutely no pressure on me and provided information in an even-handed, non-judgmental, manner, and was unfazed by several course-changes in what I was looking for.  Moreover, he is highly attentive to detail, so much so that on several occasions, a buyer’s agent commented on his eagle eye (e.g., counter height being ADA instead of standard height).  Bottom line – I can’t imagine having a more positive experience and recommend him without reservation to anyone looking to buy in this stressful market.  Thanks Matt!

  • Bought a Single Family home in 2016 for approximately $575K in Admiral, Seattle, WA.

Matt helped me to buy my first home in an incredibly daunting seller’s market. If I had to do it again, I’m honestly not sure that I would, given how stressful it was, but I was glad to have Matt helping me through the year-long process. He has the patience of a saint. If not for his reassurances and gentle nudging, I probably still wouldn’t have a house.

Most of the single family homes in my price range were older and had fairly major problems. I relied on Matt’s expertise and background in construction to understand the scope of the problems and how I should factor them into my offers.

When it was clear that I was getting priced out of the Ballard/Phinney areas, Matt suggested looking in other neighborhoods. I ended up buying in a great part of West Seattle and was able to stay within my initial budget.

I am happy to recommend Matt, especially to first-time home buyers in need of some extra hand-holding.

  • Bought and sold a Single Family home in 2016 in Loyal Heights, Seattle, WA.

Matt was patient with us through a year-long search for a new home in a hot market. He was knowledgable about the area, informed on market pricing and guided us through a number of offers and finally a successful transaction. We would recommend Matt to anybody.

  • Bought a Condo home in 2015 in East Queen Anne, Seattle, WA.

I worked with Matt to find my first home. I had originally toured a few homes way back in 2013, but we started out again in late Oct 2015. We might have toured over 25-30 homes in search of that perfect one.

Matt is a wonderful person to work with. He is very flexible and willing to work around your schedule. He is very knowledgeable and is able to provide sound advice, especially for a first time home buyer like me.

I’ll gladly work with Matt again and would recommend him to anyway looking for an awesome agent.

  • Sold a Townhouse home in 2015 in East Queen Anne, Seattle, WA.

Matt facilitated the sale of my home, while I was living in Chicago. I could not be more impressed with his abilities and highly recommend his services. His professionalism, market knowledge, and communication skills were top notch. Thank you, Matt!

  • Bought a single family home in 2015 for $400,000 in Kenmore, WA.

The experience with Findwell in finding our home, though lengthy, was very satisfying. Findwell, Matt Martel in particular, was very knowledgeable on all the intricacies of real estate transactions. They walked us through the entire process, even to signings that they were not required to attend. We reviewed several hundreds of homes and Matt was very accommodating on schedules to view the homes we wanted to see. Matt was very patient with us and we never felt pressured to buy any home. Matt just wanted us to find the home that made us excited and was going to be the home that was meant to be ours. We chose Findwell originally because of their philosophy on real estate transactions, they pay their representatives a salary and are not on commission. The result is no pressure to buy, no pressure to sell. They are more there for you rather than the commissioned transaction. Matt made the transactions with selling our home and buying the new one a pleasure. Two thumbs up to Findwell and Matt Martel!

  • Bought a Single Family home in 2015 for approximately $350K in High Point, Seattle, WA.

Matt is just wonderful! I simply cannot say enough about how positive my experience was with Matt. Incredibly knowledgable, patient, easy to talk to and genuinely interested in helping me find the right home. I always felt at ease with Matt. He went out of his way to assist me throughout the entire home buying process and never made me feel pressured to make a decision – that was incredibly important to me as I was a first-time home buyer and very unsure of what to do. He understands the market well and helped me secure the right home at a time when it’s been so challenging for so many. I can truly say that Matt was not just a realtor, but a friend. Others would be wise to contact Matt. I promise, you won’t be disappointed.

  • Bought a Single Family home in 2015 for approximately $350K in High Point, Seattle, WA.

When my partner and I started the process of finding our first property to purchase, we wanted to work with an agent that was patient, experienced and honest above all else. Matt brought these key qualities and so much more to our house hunt. From the get-go, Matt’s warm personality and thoughtful approach put as at ease. He was very committed to understanding our top needs and wants in a home and developed a search strategy tailored for us. Each property Matt selected for us helped us hone in on the aspects of a home that we truly valued and Matt’s ability to listen to and incorporate our feedback into the search were key to us finding a number of strong contenders very quickly. Once we found the home we ultimately wanted to buy, Matt held our hands through the entire purchase process and masterfully helped us craft our winning bid at a fantastic price. Once the deal was closed and we had moved in, Matt was still dedicated to making sure we were safe and comfortable in our new home. We are so glad that we were able to work with Matt and cannot recommend him highly enough!

  • Bought a home in 2015 in Seattle, WA.

Matt helped us, first time home buyers, navigate a competitive market by giving us excellent service and support as we moved fast on target properties. He connected us with exceptional inspection and mortgage professionals, was more interested in helping us than himself, and learned what was important to us by listening. I would use Matt to sell our house and would recommend him to friends looking for exceptional service in the age of internet listings.

  • Sold a Townhouse home in 2015 for approximately $625K in East Queen Anne, Seattle, WA.

Although we sold our place in Queen Anne during a sellers market, the sale of our place was made difficult due to the fact that we were both living out of state and going through a divorce.

Despite these complications Matt made our sale and closing go seamless. He took the lead on most everything and was receptive when we provided direction. He was also sensitive to the fact that we were in the middle a divorce and made it easy for both of us.

We initially tried to sell the house FSBO. We engaged Matt when that deal fell through. Lucky for us because Matt got us 35K more than we would have sold it for.

We both work in commercial real estate – as an attorney and loan closer – so we appreciate someone who knows how to get a deal done the right way. Matt did just that with our sale and we both would recommend his services.

  • Bought a Condo home in 2015 in Belltown, Seattle, WA.

Matt took my wife and I exploring houses throughout Seattle for what seemed like endless weekends! He was incredibly responsive throughout the entire process – new listings, follow-ups on offers made, strategy for getting our dream home. In the end we looked at 75+ houses – Matt displayed extreme patience for us first time home-buyers, and was very helpful in the entire process.

We were especially impressed with his knowledge of the various neighborhoods throughout the Seattle area. He provided several recommendations on places to look that he thought would meet our interests. At the same time, he clearly kept our well-being and investment in the forefront of his mind – not just looking to get a deal closed.

In Seattle’s crazy real estate market, it is very helpful to have someone like Matt on your team. He helped guide us through the offer process as good ones came (and went) – relentless in his pursuit for what would make us happy.

The variety of listings and neighborhoods helped narrow down the definition of our dream home – and we are very happy with where we ended up!

Would (and have) recommended Matt to anyone looking for a house in the Seattle area.

  • Bought a Single Family home in 2015 for approximately $1.0M in West Queen Anne, Seattle, WA.

Matt was such a delight to work with. He really got to know us and got a sense of what we were looking for in a new home, almost as we were honing that sense ourselves! In fact, just when my husband and I were talking seriously about putting an offer on a “close enough” house, Matt took us immediately to see a new house that had only been listed an hour before. He guided us through a (successful) bidding war, a sticky financing with a delay, and got us into our dream home in what must be near-record time. I was almost sad on our day of closing because it meant we wouldn’t be working with him anymore! I can’t recommend Matt highly enough.

  • Bought a Single Family home in 2015 for approximately $350K in North Delridge, Seattle, WA.

We were first time home buyers and Matt made the process less scary and was good at explaining how it all worked. During the inspection period Matt went to the full inspection with us and even went to our additional inspections for us when we weren’t able to go because of work. He was a great help and I’d use him again in the future!

  • Bought a Single Family home in 2014 for approximately $600K in Fremont, Seattle, WA.

My wife and I were looking to buy in the Seattle area and lucked out by picking Matt from Findwell. He lives near the downtown area so he knows it well. He was always easy to reach, answered all of our numerous questions, and masterfully guided us through a tough Seattle home-buying market. Buying in the hot Seattle market means you have to be well-prepared and act quickly to get a nice home since they don’t stay on the market very long. Because Matt was so available, knowledgeably about the area, and quick to respond, we were able to purchase a great house in a great Seattle neighborhood for a price that was below the appraisal value. I would definitely look to Matt again for future home buying or selling!

  • Bought a Single Family home in 2014 for approximately $700K in Olympic Manor, Seattle, WA.

Matt Martel has been incredible to work with and has played a crucial role in helping us secure a home in a very competitive Seattle market.

From the get go, Matt made us very comfortable to work with him. He was meticulous and patient in answering all our questions and concerns and as first-time home buyers we found it incredibly helpful.

At every home viewing Matt would walk us through pros and cons of each property providing us a balanced view to help us make a sound decision.

Matt’s prior experience in building construction was a huge plus in helping us understand the ‘bones’ of a home. He was extremely knowledgeable when we did pre-inspections on a few homes that we considered. His ability to make connections with the seller’s agent and build a strong case for us helped us be considered favorably in an extremely competitive market this summer. From when we considered a home to the final closing, Matt was quick to respond to emails or was just a phone call away for clarifications on every aspect of the home and has always been very accommodating of our work schedules.

    His perseverance

  • Bought and sold a Single Family home in 2014 for approximately $625K in Mt. Baker, Seattle, WA.

Matt Martell helped us sell our house and buy a new one. He listened carefully to what we needed (both in the selling and buying) and was an incredible help at every stage of the journey. Matt is fun to work with, and he made our house sale and search very enjoyable.
He is very customer focused and knowledgeable about real estate. He took great care in all the paperwork and negotiation and was a great advocate for us.

Most important, he helped us succeed in all our goals to sell our home, and purchase a new home with all the criteria we were looking for.

We would work with Matt again in a heartbeat – but we are so happy with our new home that won’t be for a long time! If you are trying to find a good agent, look no further.

  • Bought a condo in 2014 for $495,000 in Seattle, WA.

Buying a home is a stressful process. Buying a home in Seattle can be an almost impossible and unbearable process. Luckily doing a quick Yelp search brought me to Findwell and now we are happy in our home. We worked with Matt Martel as he accompanied us through months of searching and open houses, working patiently, resourcefully, and being well accessible. The non-commission model Findwell employs serves customer interests first and we felt no pressure to buy anything that wouldn’t fit our preferences. If you are bold enough to step into the Seattle housing market, give the guys at Findwell a call. It’s nice to have them on your side.

  • Bought a home in 2014 in Education Hill, Redmond, WA 98052.

We are first time home buyers and very little knowledge about home buying process. Matt is very knowledgeable and know a good about area & neighborhood. Matt was very patient, answered all of our questions and with us in every steps of buying process. It took long 6 months for finding a home in this very competitive market, but Matt kept us positive & hopeful. There were multiple offer situations and it’s because of Matt’s negotiation skill, through knowledge about procedures and clear communication, we are able get house in very nice neighborhood.
We absolutely loved working with Matt and would highly recommend Findwell & Matt to all my friends who are looking for homes.

  • Bought a Single Family home in 2013 for approximately $275K in Rainier View, Seattle, WA.

As I am coming up on my one year anniversary since losing my property virgin status, I realized that I had never really thanked the realtor who helped me find my perfect home. Matt was an amazing asset to have through the experience, and I can’t thank him enough for his insight and expertise.

One of my biggest fears is high pressure sales tactics and going into the experience I was very afraid of being pressured into anything. Matt answered my millions of questions and took the time to make sure I understood what was going on throughout the process. There were 15 offers on the home I finally purchased, and Matt was there to help me through that daunting reality as well.

I am so happy with my beautiful home and can’t recommend him enough!!

  • Bought a Single Family home in 2013 for approximately $400K in Minor, Seattle, WA.

My husband and I loved working with Matt and findwell! We toured homes in Seattle for months, this market is competitive and when we finally found the right home he knew how to help us write an offer that was accepted over some other strong offers. Matt was always on time, friendly, and honest. When you are going to spend just about every weekend with someone for who knows how long, it’s important that not only are they competent but that you also get along with them! Looking for a home can be frustrating and tiring, but Matt helped keep everything in perspective and now after being in our home for 6 months we couldn’t be happier!

  • Sold a home in 2014 in Cascade, Renton, WA 98058.

Matt Martel is the agent that Findwell assigned for us. He has been very responsible and help us selling our house and buying another house within a month. Matt is very good with the market pricing and it only took us 5 days to get an offer of our sale.

Matt Martel is very fast in responding emails and never late for an schedule with us. He even spent the entire day with us looking into 10 houses in one day. Within this one day, he gave us the best advises due to our needs and never rushes us to anything.

Two transactions can be done within a month, there’s no word to describe how good Matt Martel is and I will definitely refer him to anyone who is buying and selling houses.

    He is your best choice!!!!!

  • Bought a Condo home in 2013 for approximately $200K in Wallingford, Seattle, WA.

Matt did an absolutely amazing job representing me when I bought my condo back in October of 2013. I have a slight knowledge of real estate, but was a first time home buyer; Matt was absolutely incredible and so thorough in his assistance. There were no stupid questions I could ask and he had answers for everything. We looked at a few different properties and ended up submitting an offer on one in Wallingford that had only been on the market a couple of days. There were multiple offers, and Matt’s ability to negotiate was something that I think really sealed the deal for me.

He was so patient and personable. He also was ALWAYS reachable, returning my phone calls, emails, or text messages any time I had a question. While I had to sign the original offer in person, I was able to sign the rest of the contracts electronically, which I thought was incredibly convenient. He also explained everything within the contracts if I had questions. He had no problem adjusting to meet me when it fit my busy schedule, and I really appreciated that flexibility.

When searching for a lender, Matt referred me to one that I ended up using and couldn’t have been happier with them! He is incredibly well-connected with a group of people (lenders, inspectors, etc.) that I felt like I could truly trust. We even ended up closing escrow early, and I absolutely could not have been happier with the experience. Matt really took out all of the stress of being a first time home buyer, and I look forward to the day that I can work with him again.

  • Bought a Single Family home in 2013 for approximately $400K in Olympic Manor, Seattle, WA.

We were first time home buyers with a baby on the way and Matt helped us every step of the way to find a home that suited us and our growing family. He was always available despite our crazy work schedule to look at homes after his long work day. We truly appreciated his ability to be flexible with our schedule and helpful in the bidding war environment we encountered. He was strategic in his offers and his knowledge in maneuvers to win offers while staying in our budget. Matt was on schedule with all the paperwork and steps needed to close on the home when our offer was accepted. Matt worked personally with our mortgage company and was always one step ahead of everyone and always kept us in the loop. Working with Findwell was a great experience and the rebate allowed us to pre-pay our PMI which lessened our monthly mortgage. Overall, I would recommend Matt Martel and Findwell to anyone looking for a home in this competitive market.

  • Bought a multi-family property in 2013 for $315,000 in Seattle, WA.

We found an investment home we wanted to buy sort of by accident. I wanted to use a realtor to help us buy it, because there is a lot of benefit of going with a realtor rather than doing it alone. I asked around and saw that findwell is a company similar to redfin, in that they are based online and rebate some of the closing costs. But findwell is smaller, which I like, so we went with them. We were set up with Matt Martel. He was really great. We didn’t end up getting the first house we looked at, and he helped us to find another one. He was mostly helpful in the buying process… he walked us through every step, even came to the signing with us. He’s a landlord, too, so was able to give us a lot of extra information and resources, too. I liked him a lot, he’s very professional and friendly, and easy to talk with. I would definitely use him again for buying a home.

  • Bought a Single Family home in 2013 for approximately $275K in Rainier View, Seattle, WA.

Working with Matt was a wonderful experience, as first time home buyers we felt comfortable from the beginning. He was very patient and took the time to answer all of our questions without any hesitation. He was always flexible with scheduling and took the time to truly understand our needs.

We made offers on two homes, our first was rejected (we lost out to all cash-who can blame them) but our second offer was accepted out of a total of 15 offers! Matt knew just what to do before hand and he worked diligently to make sure our offer was as attractive as possible. He took the time to walk us thru the entire process and even attended our closing to help us out with any questions. As first time buyers I knew we would have to compromise on our wish list, but in the long run we ended up with a home that has everything we could have wanted and more.

I would highly recommend working with Matt whether you are a savvy real estate expert or if it’s your first time out of the gate. He has a pleasant demeanor, and possesses an unrivaled knowledge that would be of great benefit to anyone in this highly competitive Seattle market.

  • Bought a home in 2013 in Cedar Falls, Snoqualmie Pass, WA 98045.

Working with Matt was wonderful! Being that this was the first time purchasing a new construction home, it was great to have such a knowledgeable agent at our side. Matt is very personable, easy to work with, and a caring individual as well.

Matt was very prompt (and I have very high standards in this regard) and flexible throughout the entire process. He met with us near our workplace whenever we needed to meet & was always willing to flex his schedule so that he was with us every step of the way. He went above & beyond; even stomping up & down the stairs in the next door unit so that we could determine the level of noise that we might hear if we were to buy that particular home. He sent us detailed mails on what to expect during each step of the home-buying process and answered all our questions (some even proactively). Given the great financial benefits of findwell.com as well, Matt was able to negotiate seller concessions on our behalf as well (which is rare in the real estate market in the Seattle metro area currently).

I would recommend Matt to all my friends & family with the highest confidence that he would do an amazing job!

  • Bought a condo in 2013 for $342,600 in Redmond, WA.

Matt Martel have been an excellent agent, we just closed the house yesterday, and I am super excited to be a first-time homeowner!! Definitely couldn’t have gotten this far without Matt’s help. Thanks Matt!!

Matt used to work with builders before he became a real estate agent, so he knows contractors whom he can refer me. And because he worked with builders, he is also really knowledgable when it comes to explaining why some houses were built in a certain way.

Matt is also very honest with me, he would point out flaws to me when he sees them, and he would provide me the pros/cons when I need to make a decision. I am really grateful for having Matt as my agent. He has been really patient with me, especially because it took me 5+ months before I landed on a house I like — partially due to the fact that the market was lacking in good supply of houses.

Furthermore, Matt really helped me out while I was out of town for a week prior to closing. He helped me verify an inspection item was fixed properly, and he also helped me follow-up on appraisal issues. Matt also provided me carpool for the home tours, and he also reserved time with me weekly to tour houses. Best of all, Matt is easily reachable by e-mail or phone, and he typically responds them with good amount of details quickly.

However, it seems to me that not all FindWell agents seem as attentive or as tech savvy (with e-mails or spreadsheets) as Matt. But again, I only had a short period of time where I got to worked with a few other FindWell agents; so I really cannot judge them accurately.

All I can say is that Matt have been an awesome agent, and I totally recommend him to anyone else looking to buy a home. Thanks again Matt for all your help!
