I have been helping buyers and sellers in the Seattle area since 2008 and it is such rewarding work! I love the thrill of the hunt and being able to help my clients find the perfect home.
Buying and selling property is an inherently emotional, stressful, and confusing time. I do enjoy making it easier for my clients by educating them about the process, helping them to make the right decisions for their situation, and keeping a calm demeanor.
In addition to being a real estate broker, I am also the Co-Founder and Director of Marketing of findwell. I really believe in our business model and seeing our services "click" with so many people makes me think we are doing something right.
Before real estate, I worked at several agencies managing marketing campaigns and events for Microsoft and other high tech clients. I live in Houghton (Kirkland) with my husband and love to travel, shop at estate sales, and am learning to play the accordion. I am originally from Eastern Washington and went to WSU (Go Cougs!)
A Paint Brush. Everything looks better with a fresh coat of paint!
My wife suggested Findwell when we started the process of selling/buying. I was skeptical about their model at first, but after some research I was very impressed with people had to say. I felt Findwell was more suited for urban, contemporary properties and we were buying and selling in the suburbs. I could not have been more wrong. This model works for any residential property. In the end, I am so glad we ended up going with Findwell and working with Shannon was amazing. She was always available, very knowledgeable and she was a great advocate throughout the process. We cannot recommend Shannon and Findwell enough. - Josh B.
Findwell, and in particular our agent Shannon Ressler, were recommended to us by friends (who in turn had been recommended her by other friends). The recommendations are justified! This is a challenging market both in terms of pricing and inventory, but over many weekends Shannon was happy to tour us around homes we found on the Findwell site, and would send us suggestions of homes we consider looking at.
We had a fairly clear idea of what we were looking for, and Shannon would give us realistic insight into why she thought particular homes did - and didn't - meet our criteria. We left every house feeling like we were considering (or, more often, rejecting) it based on a good, objective understanding of its good and bad points. In particular, we didn't have the "hard sell" experience we have heard others talk about from their "buyer's" agent - it always seemed that she was as interested as we were in finding the right house, not just pushing any house to close a deal.
Then, we found the home we wanted. For myriad reasons, it seemed to be out of reach: it was offered above our budget, it had great craftsmanship inside and out that made us wary of whether the price would be reduced further, and on top of that it was taken off the market shortly after we found it! We decided we wanted to wait and see if it came back on the market in a few months somewhere near to a price we could afford. Obviously seeing how much we wanted this particular home, Shannon completely supported us in this decision, even though it obviously meant a delay in us making any purchase that would result in her being paid, and she somehow managed to be both realistic ("it's probably a long shot, but hey...") and optimistic ("let's try!") at the same time.
In the event, after a few months the home was relisted at a price close to our range. Shannon helped us through the contract and negotiation process and paperwork, and we agreed a price we could afford with the seller. But as with any housing transaction in this environment, that was just the beginning :( In the next few weeks, there were tons of subsequent ups and downs and moments of drama over which we had little control - wildly different appraisals to both the upside and downside (now there's an industry that does urgently need regulation, btw), subsequent loan changes, more negotiations, contractual issues as the sellers (understandably) became concerned about whether financing would be obtained .. the list went on and on. Shannon took call after call, offering advice, experience and suggesting possible paths for us to consider - always as an advisor, but leaving decisions clearly up to us.
The deal rollercoaster was not a good time for anyone, but right through we felt that thanks to advice from Shannon (and a great mortgage company who will get a separate review!) we were doing everything we could to get the deal done. She connected us to excellent professionals at various stages - never demanding that we use them, but relaying her experiences of them having worked out well on other transactions - and just generally just helped us feel really good about the decisions we were making.
You will not be surprised to learn after this that we cannot recommend Shannon and Findwell enough :) We are sitting in a wonderful home today that we only like more every day, and that 6 months ago (and 6 weeks ago again!) seemed completely out of reach. Much of this is due to Shannon and the Findwell team who helped us work through the entire process, didn't give up, and who went the extra mile for us when it counted. The Findwell fee rebate is definitely a nice bonus, but having been through this process, that's not the best thing about Findwell or ultimately the reason I would recommend them - it's their ability to actually get the job done, and in such a friendly, professional and supportive way. - Geoff A.
We (my wife and I) worked with Shannon Ressler at Findwell to help us find our home. We had been looking for a long time with no success for a long time. We'd also looked at many real estate agents before deciding to work with Findwell. Shannon got us in touch with a builder who was working on some newer projects that worked really well for us. We were able to get a home with many of our requirements satisfied at a price point that we were comfortable with. Shannon never pressured us and would always offer guidance when we had questions.
The entire process took well over 9 months to complete She was always available, kept on top of tasks during the building process and those required at closing and there were no surprises at closing. I've participated in multiple real estate transactions in the past and this was by far the smoothest one I've been through.
We would definitely recommend her and Findwell. - Chirag P.
This also is the review I posted on Yelp. Check out findwell on Yelp. Last time I checked, they had 17 reviews everyone of them a well-deserved five star rating
From my Yelp review:
The only thing disappointing is that everyone already wrote what I was planning to say. This is a genuine, five-star local business. Shannon Ressler, findwell's director of marketing and co-founder, was our agent. She listened, offered advice and direction but didn't pressure us. Better still, she knows a ton and what she doesn't know right off, she finds out quickly. Moreover, the rebate really made it inexpensive. The only drag about getting our house (we closed in early May) is that we're not hanging out with Shannon anymore looking at homes. You can't go wrong here. I would not hesitate to use findwell again. - Mike.Lewis
Shannon helped us sell a house. She came to our initial meeting prepared with all the data from our local area we needed to get a listing plan together that day. Shannon gave us very practical advice about prepping the house for listing--advising on which small fixes would help, and which could be skipped. She and her team put on a number of successful open houses and generated an amazing looking online photo spread. After we got our listing up, Shannon's market knowledge and skill at execution became apparent when our house went under contract squarely within the price range she predicted after exactly 30 days on the market (also a spot-on prediction). This was at a time (winter 2010) when comparable houses in our neighborhood were languishing for months and being pulled off the market, despite that they were listed by the top traditional agencies in Seattle. Shannon managed the negotiation and closing process to a completely smooth landing, right on schedule and was totally responsive to e-mails and phone calls throughout the process. Awesome expertise, execution and value! We couldn't have been happier with Shannon! - kaya32
We are thrilled with our decision to go with Findwell when searching for and purchasing our new home. Shannon was always helpful, available, professional, patient, proactive and upbeat. Working with her was an easy and pleasant experience. She guided us through the looking and buying process and took care of everything, even doing a final home review to make sure our new house was in good condition before our move. Her service was excellent.
I found Findwell through all the positive Yelp reviews and went with them because of those and the 50% commission rebate policy. It was so wonderful to get that money to help with closing costs. Anyone who goes through a traditional agent will spend more - and won't get better service than we got from Shannon. - Betsy G.
Findwell was awesome. My wife and I, first time homebuyers, worked with Shannon for 6 months or so, looking at a great number of houses.
Shannon was always knowledgable, helpful, and what I appreciated the most, honest. We never felt pressured to do anything or make offers we were not comfortable with. The first place we looked at was a short sale that ended up falling through after 4 months of back and fourth, and Shannon was always available to answer questions and help out. We always felt like she was genuinely trying to find a good house for us, and not just trying to sell us a house that worked so she got paid.
After months of looking, we found and purchased a home this July and it was phenomenal! I don't think we could have done it without the help from Findwell.
Plus, the rebate we got back went towards some couches and a washer/dryer, which apparently was a "critical purchase that we couldn't live without." I thought a 65" TV was more apt, but I stopped wearing the pants a while back, so who cares what I think. - Willie P.
The service that findwell provides far exceeds expectations, they demonstrated commitment and enthusiasm to finding us the perfect home and never gave up!
My husband and I just purchased our first home in Seattle and worked with findwell through the whole process. It was a long process for us as we were somewhat indecisive on where we wanted to live. We also had a few false starts along the way, including putting an offer on a short sale, which, after a few months of waiting, and an inspection, we discovered was not such a great deal after all (entire roof needed replacing, water leaking in crawl space).
Despite this, Shannon our agent, was always available when we needed her, always willing to show us homes and was very knowledgable and HONEST along the way. We felt like she had our back, was never pushy and was always looking out for us and our home buying needs. She also really took the time to get to know us, build a strong and real relationship with us, and we feel like we have gained a friendship along the way. It is such a relief to have someone you can trust when making such a huge purchasing decision.
Some of the things that stand out for me through this whole process include:
- Shannon spending hours upon hours over a multitude of weekends, showing us homes that we had spotted online and wanted to check out. She showed up always on time, enthusiastic, patient and with a smile on her face. This could include first thing on a Saturday morning or 6pm on a weeknight. It felt like she was always available to us and willing to go the extra mile.
- When my husband and I were unable to meet a contractor on site at one of the homes to get a quote, Shannon met the contractor there for us instead, spent several hours with him, called us afterwards to give us the run down and provided us the written quote. She was willing to give up several hours to do this for us, knowing that the outcome may lead to us pulling out of the deal if the quote for repairs was too high.
- When it became obvious that we should walk away from the short sale (after spending months working towards closing it), Shannon did not pressure us, was 100% supportive of our decision and didn't let it phase her at all. This demonstrated that she was all about getting us what we needed and not about just closing deals.
- Finally, the team work that is evident at findwell is extraordinary, especially in the real estate industry. We actually ended up working with everyone at findwell at some point through our home buying process. The one time Shannon was unavailable (due to a well earned vacation!) the other agents were able and willing to step in to help out, including Kevin showing up and providing us great advice and support during our final inspection. It feels like they really are a team, working together to serve their customers, regardless of whose customer "belongs" to who. This is a fantastic business model and truly puts the customer at the heart of their business.
I highly recommend findwell to everyone in the Seattle/Eastside area. They are knowledgable, passionate and 100% focused on their customers. Plus, with the commission rebate, why would you bother working with a "traditional" and overpriced agency.
We moved in to our new home last weekend and are loving every minute of it - thank you to Shannon, Kevin and the findwell team for your commitment to getting the Kings in to their castle! - Tarryn K.
We had a great experience with Findwell! Our agent is Shannon. She is knowledgeable, organized, professional and kind. We are first-time home buyers so the house-purchasing process is totally new to us. Shannon is always patient with us. She replies our questions promptly and with all the essential details. She carefully guides us so that we could successfully get a nice house. The resource Shannon recommends is great too, such as the house appraisor, the banker, and sewer inspector. Also thanks to the team, Kevin and Michael gave us great help when Shannon was out-of-town. - Qiang W.
Findwell is the reason we now are living in our dream home. Finding homes online is so easy that we knew we did not want to pay full real estate commission. At first, we were planning on going with Redfin but when I found out about Findwell, we were drawn to the fact they said the service is the same if not better than typical full commission agents.
Because of their expertise and knowledge we were able to get our bank-owned home for 14K under the asking price. We really knew we got a good deal when the identical home a few doors down went a week later for 30K more.
The house we ended getting was at the upper limit of what we qualified for and if it weren't for the 50% commission rebate that paid for our closing costs, we would not have qualified for it.
Our agent Shannon was phenomenal. She was always available and very responsive when we had questions (and I had a TON of questions). I couldn't believe she even answered my emails and calls when she was on vacation!
I would say we'd use them again for our next home but thanks to them, I don't think we'll move again because we love our new house so much. - Jayron F.
