What is the best time of the year to sell a house? Can you still get my home sold in the offseason? What day of the week should you list your home for sale? findwell agent Lauren GeRoy discusses these questions in the latest installment of Ask an Agent.
Q: What is the best time of the year to sell a house?
A: The best time of year to sell your home is typically the spring and early summer months. Those are the times of year when the most buyers are out looking. They’re trying to purchase a home and move while their kids are out of school in the summer. Typically people are looking to purchase a home in the late spring and early summer and possibly through August, so it is a good time to list your property during those months so you get the most exposure.
Q: Can I still get my home sold in the off season?
A: You can definitely still sell your home during the off season. Though the buyer pool may be a little smaller during the winter months as the holidays come around, you can definitely still get your home sold during the quieter times.
Q: What day of the week should I list my home for sale?
A: We have found that the best day of the week to list your property is a Thursday or Friday towards the end of the week. Most home buyers are planning their home tours for the weekend, and if you list too early in the week, there’s a chance that by the time they are actually out looking on Saturday, they may have forgotten about your home. It’s good to be sure that you list at a time when they will see your home and remember it for their weekend tours.
