Staying in your own home during a showing is generally not a good idea. The buyers and their agents need to feel comfortable about discussing the home – the good and the bad – while they’re in the home and feeling comfortable walking through the home. This is very hard to do when the seller and/or the seller’s children are at home. It is much easier to do if the home is vacant, they can take as long as they want, they don’t feel like they’re being watched. It’s generally always a better to leave the house when it’s being shown.
