How to find historic photos of your Seattle home

The Washington State Archives Department keeps historic photos of many Seattle icons, buildings, and landmarks – including photos of older homes throughout the city. This is a great way to take a peek back in time at your own home and see what transformations it has undergone throughout the years. The process does take a few weeks, but is well worth the detective work.

To order, you can email the archivist, phone the office, or visit in person. Just provide them with your property address and they will let you know what photos are available (often times there are several from different points throughout the years). You can then order your own print in several different sizes. These are a fun conversation piece and a nice display item if your home is on the market.
