Bought a single family home in 2011 for $532,000 in Seattle, WA.

We were really, really happy with Findwell. Frankly I am a tough client, we looked at a lot of challenging and unusual properties, and it is rare for me to find an agent who brings much value-add to the table. Findwell was absolutely great to work with, and we were very glad to have our agent on the team, he brought really useful knowledge, experience, a positive tone, sound judgment, and a great understanding of realty transactions. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Findwell to anyone!!

Bought a single family home in 2011 for $140,000 in SeaTac, WA.

5 stars really isn’t enough to give my agent, Michael Schafer of Findwell. He is amazing. Outstanding. So incredibly badass that I barely have words to describe it. There’s no doubt in my mind that, without him, I would’ve have been able to do this the way I did. For a little background, I’m currently living out of state, and had planned from the start to purchase my house sight unseen. I’m self employed, have never bought a house before, and was looking for something at the lower end of the price spectrum, so I knew from the start that I wasn’t going to be any agent’s big payday. None of this phased Michael, he was completely awesome and helpful from the first emails we exchanged. He helped me sort through properties that fit my criteria, which was a task in and of itself. I was really looking to get the most bang for my dollar, and in the $150k range, there’s a lot of crap that had to be sorted out of the mix to find the ones that were even potentially a good buy. Since this is my first rodeo, I had a ton of questions at pretty much every stage of the process. Michael always responded quickly, and if he didn’t have the information immediately, he found out what I needed to know. He even went out and took a ton of detailed pictures so I could get the best idea of what the house was actually like remotely. He pointed out things that I would have never known to look for, and dealt with me honestly about the quality and condition of the various houses I had him trudge out to. I never felt any pressure at all to move forward with a property I wasn’t 100% comfortable with. After I’d decided on a house, there were some hassles with getting the inspection done, but Michael handled them without a peep of complaint. He handled the scheduling (and re-scheduling, and re-re-scheduling) of the inspector, as well as the electrician and plumber I had go take a look at it when some things concerned me on the original inspection report. That was followed by issues with my lender dragging their feet and being uncommunicative, which Michael adroitly handled. He stayed on top of them until they delivered what we needed, and then did the same thing when the escrow company looked like they were slacking. That’s kind of the short version (I know, right?), and it really doesn’t do Michael justice for all the amazing things he did. I guess the most important thing to take out of this is that he’s totally awesome and everybody reading this should call him immediately. Micheal, and Findwell, will definitely be the object of my regards whenever the subject comes up, and I couldn’t imagine going to anyone else next time I decide to buy, or sell. I can’t imagine being more satisfied with my first experience with a real estate agent than I am.

Bought a single family home in 2011 for $137,000 in Federal Way, WA.

I really cannot express how happy I am with Findwell and our agent, Michael Schafer, but I will definitely try. My husband and I found out in Jan. 2011 that we had to be out of our apartment by the end March 2011, leaving us 3 months to find a house (or be homeless). We interviewed several agents from other real estate companies (including John L Scott) and Findwell, and Mike stood out among them all for his willingness to meet us on our schedules, his thoughtful answers to our interview questions, his follow up after the initial interview and his absolutely glowing recommendations from previous home buyers. After we interviewed (but before we made our decision on an agent) Mike sent us lists of homes that fit our criteria and looked into any homes we found on redfin, findwell and other real estate sites. He toured several homes with my husband and several with the both of us, always managing to fit us in even when we asked at the last second. We fell into brief lust with a house in Skyway, only to back out the next day as we didn’t like the neighborhood. Mike never showed any sign of impatience or irritation during this, and continued to help us refine our search. When we finally settled on a home in the south end Mike was prompt at sending in the contract, keeping us in the loop as to what was going on, and following up with the listing agent. What I felt most impressed by was Mike’s consistent attention to us and our needs; oftentimes when someone is vying for your business they dance around you with flowers and candy but once you get on board with them they suddenly fall off the face of the earth or act like you’re an imposition; I never once felt this way with Mike. Mike’s strong points are definitely his communication, patience and honesty. He is excellent at communication through e-mail and would follow up with the listing agent anytime we got nervous about the wait time (which we did. A lot.). E-mail was easiest for us so we never really called him, but the few times we did he always answered. I do feel in real estate that time is everything – I’ve watched houses I looked at a day earlier go into “Pending” status the next. When that is the case, being able to reach your agent every day is absolutely crucial. At one point during our 2-month battle with the bank Mike went on (a well-deserved) vacation and left us in the hands of his coworker Lauren Skow, and she was also wonderful at answering our questions, following up and keeping us on track to close early. From all the positive reviews on Yelp, JudysBook and Google I suspect everyone at Findwell really is a pleasure to work with. Since we were first time home buyers we had thousands of questions (sometimes about houses, sometimes about the process, sometimes about the weather) and Mike answered them all without ever going off into real estate jargon-land or giving the sense that we were annoying him (which we probably were, but he never showed it). I am a demanding person and constantly needed attention, reassurance and timelines and Mike always followed up with the listing agent, the bank, escrow or anyone else he needed to (respectively) to ensure we were all on the same track. Additionally, Mike was able to connect us to several key services (mortgage broker, home inspector, etc.) and they all proved to be wonderful as well – the people handling our mortgage paperwork were fantastic at keeping in constant contact and updating us while keeping things moving with escrow and the bank. We really could not have asked for a better team of people to help us with our first home buying experience. Obviously you always want to do your own research for these things, but we never for a moment felt like we were being taken advantage of or treated poorly (our home was not the most expensive on the market but Mike never made us feel like we were less important than his other clients who were probably buying way more expensive homes (and therefore bringing in a higher commission). Lastly, we personally did not qualify for the rebate but I hear it’s a great deal – I feel we got a great deal with Mike (rebate or not), but that’s just me! All I can say is I hope when my husband and I go to sell our home in 20 years Mike is still around, or there are going to be some really big boots to fill.

Bought a single family home in 2011 for $245,000 in Edmonds, WA.

Lauren Skow was AMAZING!!!!!! in our quest for our first time buying a house. Not only was she very available and provide great communication, she followed up in an extremely timely matter on every request we had. She met us wherever we wanted to go, and helped us not get too down when we lost our first short sale we offered on. She then FOUND our place we closed on, and helped us find a great inspector, and she did some serious negotiation to get us nearly everything we wanted from the SELLER! She even helped us deal with the horrible FHA process and went through a final walk through for us at the last second to make sure the seller made good on their concessions! I want to commend her on an amazing job, and My wife and I will HAPPILY refer Findwell and Lauren’s services to our friends, colleagues and Family. Furthermore, the Findwell credit allowed us to get a slightly better rate than we would have otherwise gotten.. I can’t say enough good things about Lauren and our experience with her and Findwell. Hopefully in a few years as our family grows, we will list our place with Findwell, and OF COURSE ask Lauren to help us find our next one!!!

    findwell agent: Kevin Lisota
Bought a single family home in 2010 for $450,000 in Seattle, WA.

Kevin Lisota, one of the founders of findwell, is hands down the best agent we have ever worked with. And we have worked with a lot of agents, from Windermere to John L Scott to Prudential. Combine Kevin’s diligence and expertise with 50% off commissions and my question is, why isn’t every prospective buyer/seller in Seattle using findwell. We are experienced buyers who have participated in many real estate transactions (WA and OR) as well as built a house (UT) and Kevin is the sharpest, most knowledgable agent we have come across. He’s the only agent we’ve ever worked with who actually paid attention to what we wanted, who previewed properties and eliminated those that didn’t meet our criteria, thereby not wasting our time when we were in town. (We were out of town buyers.) And we never felt the ‘hardsell’, the pressure to buy now because this deal won’t last. And when it came to closing, the most important part of the transaction, Kevin was completely on top of all the documents. We didn’t have to scrutinize every line because Kevin had our back. I can’t tell how many other agents we’ve used who have bungled these critical documents, mispelling names, entering incorrect values for tax owed, using poor grammer. Why would any buyer or seller pay an additional 1.5% to Windermere so they can maintain their koi ponds (northgate office) and fancy buildings. Or John L. Scott, whose parking lot in Bend, OR can resemble a BMW dealership. We recommend Kevin and Findwell without hesitation and when it’s time to re-sell our home in Seattle, we’ll be using Findwell again. We’re hoping Kevin will expand to Bend, OR so we can use his services there.

After terminating our listing with another agency, we chose to list with Michael Schafer of Findwell. Here’s why we’re so happy: 1.Michael’s listing price was based on detailed comps & a thorough evaluation of the local market. Neighborhoods have a qualitative difference that Redfin failed to notice, but that Michael addressed. 2.We needed to sell our quirky house in a bad economy very quickly. Michael focused on explaining how he would address those challenges, how he’d market the house to show off it’s strengths, & what we should realistically expect. He has a very positive outlook, but he is realistic. 3.Michael has infinite patience, which I tested repeatedly with countless panicked phone calls and emails. Michael always took the time to talk to me and listen to what I said. 4.Every week Michael emailed us a summary of showings and online activity, as well as an update on the chosen comps and any new comps that came on the market. 5.We got an offer on our house the day we were moving. Michael worked with us long-distance, & we were able to completely trust him to watch out for our best interests. Everything was handled proactively so we never had to worry. 6.When we were negotiating, Michael worked with the buyer’s agent to get a feel for where the buyers stood to expedite the process. After a few back-and-forth negotiations, Michael guided us to a final price that the buyers could manage, but that was as painless for us as possible. In summary, Michael was everything that you expect from a full-price agent. Stellar communication, accurate pricing, a solid marketing plan, thorough review of comparable homes and market activity, & experienced guidance through negotiations, inspection, & closing. I used Windermere for my first two home sales, & I can honestly say that Findwell exceeds Windermere’s service level. Of course, Findwell does it for half the commission, but I’d recommend them at any price!

Sold a single family home in 2011 for $395,000 in Seattle, WA.

Too bad 5 stars is the maximum, because I don’t feel it sufficiently reflects how happy I am with the service provided by Findwell and my agent, Michael Schafer. This is a long review, but selling your house is a big transaction… We listed our Seattle home for sale in August of 2010. We interviewed Michael of Findwell, as well as Redfin. Redfin’s suggested list price was higher, so we went with them. Too bad we didn’t really think this through… After 2 months on the market, we had almost no interest, despite price drops. We were extremely frustrated at our agent, who we felt didn’t like being bothered by our phone calls, and who didn’t seem very motivated to sell our home, so we got back in touch with Michael, begging him to consider taking us on as clients. He spent a long time on the phone with me, listening to me vent about how disappointed I was with my Redfin agent, and then explained what he would do to try to sell my home as quickly as possible. We terminated our agreement with Redfin that night, and that was likely one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. OK, so now more about why we think Michael and Findwell are fantastic: 1. Michael’s listing price recommendation was based on detailed comps, personal inspections of similar homes for sale in our neighborhood, and a thorough evaluation of the local market. We’re not sure what Redfin’s market analysis was based on, but we think it was wishes and dreams, or perhaps a random number generator. Redfin’s comps were selected by home size and distance, but that doesn’t necessarily mean anything in Seattle. A Ravenna home is not really comparable to a U-District home, even if they are half a mile apart. There’s a qualitative difference there that Redfin failed to notice, but that Michael did. 2. We knew we were in a tough position – a house with some odd characteristics in one of the worst markets in decades that we needed to sell fast. Michael never painted the picture as rosier than it was. Instead, he focused on explaining how he would address those challenges, how he would market the house to show off it’s strengths, and what we should realistically expect. He has a very positive outlook, but it is realistic. That is critically important in real estate. 3.Michael has more patience than the vast majority of people out there, and I tested his patience repeatedly with countless panicked phone calls and emails. Michael always took the time to talk to me and listen to what I said, which is not easy since I am a high-maintenance control freak. His advice was always based on fact (not my level of freak-out), and I was able to relax and trust him. 4. Michael’s pricing recommendations turned out to be quite accurate. Every week he emailed us a summary of showings and online activity, as well as an update on the comps (had they sold, changed their price, etc.), and any new comps that came on the market. 5. We got an offer on our house the day I boarded the plane to move back east. Michael worked with us long-distance, and I was able to completely trust him to watch out for our best interests. Everything was handled proactively so we never had to worry. 6. When we were negotiating, Michael worked with the buyer’s agent to get a feel for where the buyers stood. He knew we needed to keep the buyers, but that we couldn’t afford to accept their initial offer. After a few back-and-forth negotiations, Michael guided us to a final price that the buyers could manage, but that was as painless for us as possible. We felt that he was truly watching out for our best interests the whole time, even if we were not there or part of every conversation. In summary, Michael was everything that you expect from a full-price agent. Stellar communication, accurate pricing, a solid marketing plan, thorough review of comparable homes and market activity, and experienced guidance through negotiations, inspection, and closing. I used Windermere for my first two home sales, and I can honestly say that Findwell meets or exceeds the service level of a full-priced real estate powerhouse like Windermere. Of course, Findwell does it for half the commission, which is nice, but I would whole-heartedly recommend them even at full commission.

Simply put, Lauren is amazing!! I just purchased my first home in spring of 2010 and couldn’t have done it with out her. Being a first time home buyer myself, Laruen was very helpful and thorough with information and tips throughout the entire purchase process. My home was a ‘short sale’ which made the transaction very difficult and lengthy (none of which were because of Lauren) to successfully close. There were additional hoops to jump through and timelines to meet with the current lien holders which didn’t phase Lauren or her team. Honestly, looking back, the only way we were able to complete this transaction is due to Lauren’s dedication and persistence. I have recommended Laruen to other friends of mine and would continue to do so to anyone looking for a real estate agent.

Shannon helped us sell a house. She came to our initial meeting prepared with all the data from our local area we needed to get a listing plan together that day. Shannon gave us very practical advice about prepping the house for listing–advising on which small fixes would help, and which could be skipped. She and her team put on a number of successful open houses and generated an amazing looking online photo spread. After we got our listing up, Shannon’s market knowledge and skill at execution became apparent when our house went under contract squarely within the price range she predicted after exactly 30 days on the market (also a spot-on prediction). This was at a time (winter 2010) when comparable houses in our neighborhood were languishing for months and being pulled off the market, despite that they were listed by the top traditional agencies in Seattle. Shannon managed the negotiation and closing process to a completely smooth landing, right on schedule and was totally responsive to e-mails and phone calls throughout the process. Awesome expertise, execution and value! We couldn’t have been happier with Shannon!

Bought a single family home in 2009 for $450,000 in Woodinville, WA.

My husband and I are first time home buyers and we have been following the Seattle real estate market for a few years now. We’re decisive and know what we want in terms of house/location/price point. We have been in touch with several of the main real estate firms in Seattle as well as with a real estate centered law office, their level of service was not adequate for us and therefore our dealings with these firms ended either after touring with them or after inquiring about a property and not receiving knowledgeable/satisfactory responses. We chose to engage with Findwell after contacting Kevin, who from day one has been able to answer all of our real estate questions and even inquiries dealing with more obscure issues such as the HUD.-1 form, title insurance, septic systems, RESPA., PMI., etc. The man is a wealth of knowledge and for that reason alone, he is an excellent choice, but the reasons to go with Kevin & Findwell do not end here! 1. Our short sale closed (a real estate law office and several realtors told us that it would never close) 2. We needed to get a roof certificate in order to close the transaction; Kevin arranged roofing companies and was present when we couldn’t be. 3. Each and every one of our emails was answered in a matter of minutes, and we sent Kevin tons of emails. He probably has a smart phone attached to one of his appendages. 4. Kevin is extremely easy to work with. He is very patient and professional 5. Kevin and Findwell make good use of technology, meaning we could just sign documents and scan/email them to him, rather than have to arrange a meeting every time something needed signature. This was key, as we had several offers going at the same time. 6. Findwell gives not only excellent service but also shares their commission with you 7. Kevin cares about your investment and will point out not only the good but also the bad about your house. ?It’s a great house with a terrible roof? – Kevin Lisota 8. He writes very informative articles for Findwell’s blog which I still check from time to time, even after having bought our home. 9. The Findwell office offers Free house buying/selling seminars where you can just ask them any questions that you may have without any obligation. 10. Kevin drives a mini, called Fiona, with a huge Findwell logo. For these reasons and more, we wholeheartedly recommend Kevin & Findwell.

Findwell recently helped us sell our home and find a great house! Thank you, Kevin. I will, and have already, recommended Kevin and Findwell to my friends. For anyone who is looking for a realtor to buy and/or sell a home, and can’t justify the overpriced fees of “traditional” realtors, look no further. I was in the same boat and interviewed a couple of realtors before deciding to go with Kevin from Findwell. Findwell saves you money with absolutely no sacrifice to service quality. As a matter of fact, I preferred working with Kevin to working with the “traditional” realtor I had when I purchased my first home. Other non-traditional realtors will sacrifice service quality, by sending you with a different “field agent” every time or limiting the number of houses you can see per day. Not Findwell! ……. Kevin was very responsive any time of day. He was very flexible with his schedule for home visits. He bought in a ton of knowledge and experience at all steps of the process. Any question we had, he answered knowledgeably. Kevin was also receptive to all our requests and gave us great suggestions. When we had concerns about something, he got more information to help us make decisions. He was extremely patient and never pushed us! This wasn’t our first home, so we were very specific in what we wanted (and what we didn’t). It took us more than 6 months looking for the home, and Kevin was very patient with us. And, I remember a day I was extremely busy at work and couldn’t leave to hand Kevin some paper work for closing. He sent a courier to my office to pick up the paper work and move the process forward! Thank you, Kevin!

We are thrilled with our decision to go with Findwell when searching for and purchasing our new home. Shannon was always helpful, available, professional, patient, proactive and upbeat. Working with her was an easy and pleasant experience. She guided us through the looking and buying process and took care of everything, even doing a final home review to make sure our new house was in good condition before our move. Her service was excellent. I found Findwell through all the positive Yelp reviews and went with them because of those and the 50% commission rebate policy. It was so wonderful to get that money to help with closing costs. Anyone who goes through a traditional agent will spend more – and won’t get better service than we got from Shannon.

Bought a condo in 2010 for $323,000 in Bellevue, WA.

This was our first time purchasing a condo, so we had no prior knowledge whether to go with a company like Findwell or a traditional agent. Our agent, Michael Schafer, was very diligent and took the time to explain the home buying process in great detail. He was always there to answer our questions and concerns, very responsive. The service, attention and knowledge exceeded our expectations. Michael also gone beyond his duties and helped us fix few errands around the condo. We also got a part of their commission back. So all that makes a great package and experience for first time home buyer like us.
